They normally exist with purposes that are entirely charitable. This includes&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>advancement of religion<\/li>\n<li>prevention or relief of poverty<\/li>\n<li>advancement of education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Commission also notes that there are ancillary organisations of faith that are also charitable in their endeavours, namely<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>religious supplementary schools<\/li>\n<li>religious choirs<\/li>\n<li>missionary organisations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You must register your organisation as a charity if it has charitable purposes for the public benefit and (both of the following)&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>it\u2019s based in England or Wales<\/li>\n<li>it has income over \u00a35,000 (from all sources)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are, however, some churches that are exempt from charitable registration.
