The report strongly evidences the social good that can result from this market growth.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8216;The report also shows that there is..<em>.evidence of greater coverage of the English regions and Devolved Administrations, which both reinforce London\u2019s concentrated presence in the sector, but still highlights other growth within the UK. There is however, heavy concentration among lenders, with seven SIFIs (<\/em>Social Investment Finance Intermediaries) providing 90% of social investment capital &#8211; and an increasing proportion of this is secured lending&#8217;.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.miningtheseem.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Social-Investment-ReportJuly2013.pdf\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Download <a title=\"View, print or download a copy of this City of London Report...\" href=\"http:\/\/www.miningtheseem.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Social-Investment-ReportJuly2013.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">a pdf copy of the report here..<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some key findings in the report:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">In 2011\/12 the UK social investment market grew by almost a quarter from\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">2010\/11 to \u00a3202m through 765 deals.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Of the 29 <a title=\"The role of a finance intermediary - Wikipedia explains...\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Financial_intermediary\" target=\"_blank\">SIFIs<\/a> actively investing in 2011\/12, four large social banks\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">and nine large SIFIs (Social Investment Finance Intermediaries) investing greater than \u00a31m accounted for 97% of the market by\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">value.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">The volume and value of deals reveals the social investment market was highly\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">concentrated in a relatively small number of SIFIs in 2011\/12.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">There is evidence of greater coverage of the English regions and Devolved\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Administrations, which both reinforces London\u2019s presence and highlights other\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">developing areas within the UK. This indicates substantial diversity in the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">geography, sector and social outcomes of investments.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">There has been an increase in secured lending as a proportion of the total\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">market value, from 84% in 2010\/11 to 90% in 2011\/12, making this the predominant\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">lending form. Nevertheless, a greater diversity of social investment\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">products was on offer in 2011\/12.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">The majority of SIFIs (89% of respondents) expected to increase their\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">investments in social ventures over the next two to three years.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Annexe 3 of the document illustrates how wide the research area was geographically.<\/p>\n<p>A positive report, outlining the economic and social impact that Social Investment can drive forward. The blank space in the report, however, is perhaps how to strengthen and widen the role of SIFI&#8217;s in the regions.
